ANCIENT AND BYZANTINE ARCHITECTURE HISTORY

"Ancient and Byzantine Architecture History" is an undergraduage compulsory course in the programme of Department of Architecture in Istanbul Technical University Architecture Faculty.

Course Code in Istanbul Technical University system: MIM 122 and MIM 122 E

Course Instructor: Compulsary courses of architecture history group are given in several classes, number varying in accordance with the semester necessities, both in English and in Turkish. Turkish Architecture History course classes are instructed by Prof. Dr. İlknur Kolay, Prof. Dr. Turgut Saner, Prof. Dr. Zeynep Kuban, Asst. Prof. Dr. Bilge Ar.

Course Description: Basic knowledge on Ancient Greek architecture, Roman architecture and an introduction to Byzantine architecture.

Course Excursions: 

            In Istanbul: An excursion to Hagia Sophia and surroundings is held every semester.

       Other: A technical excursion to Western Anatolian Ancient Greek and Roman sites is held every Spring Semester.
