"Ayasofya; Tasarım, Strüktür, Sanat" [Hagia Sophia; Design, Structure, Art] is a graduate - PhD level course in the Architecture History Programme in Istanbul Technical University Architecture Faculty.

Course Description: The course covers a wide band of topics related to Hagia Sophia such as: structure, plan and roofing concept, its contribution to the history of engineering, the legends created around the building, historical sources on the building, damages and reparations, the special liturgy of the church, its exemplary function to Ottoman mosques in Istanbul, all kinds of architectural decoration, the additions done according to Ottoman court ceremonial, the Fossati restoration and the history of investigation on the building until today. 

Course Objectives: +Informing the PhD students about the most important monument of history of world architecture.   +Comprehensive surveys on Hagia Sophia and its layers.   +Critical approaches to a very special subject of architecture history.
